SCI Ozark Chapter participates in activities all year. Here are some of the projects to which SCI Ozark Chapter has contributed in the last year:
Missouri Department of Conservation: $5,500 The MDC has been working on studying the number of black bear and mountain lions in MO. They needed assistance in being able to see the animals at night and alerting people if they were in bear territory. The Ozark Chapter paid for signage for MDC to put up across the state to let people know what areas are bear areas and we purchased a night vision scope to assist with viewing at night.

Wonders of Wildlife: $5,000 Wonders of Wildlife had received a grant to assist schools with the entry fee to visit WOW but the schools still had a shortfall to pay for busing. The Ozark Chapter donated funds to pay for the bus fee so more students could visit the museum.

Dickerson Park Zoo: $10,000 What a project! The Ozark Chapter has teamed up with the Dickerson Park Zoo and Girl Scouts of Dogwood Trails Troop 205 to design, develop, build and implement a hands on learning, educational center at the zoo. This building houses a live bug exhibit, and an interactive center that rotates so there’s always something new for people to experience.

$11,000 We had one of our club members that was diagnosed with a serious medical condition. We held a special auction and all proceeds went to the family to help cover their expenses. SCI Veterans Fund: $500 Our troops are supporting us, our country and our freedom daily. We want to tell them we recognized, remember and appreciate all they are doing!

Work to be done. We have had the wonderful opportunity to be given a trailer already equipped as a mobile classroom. Now we have to appoint the trailer with our sensory safari items and begin taking it to schools and organizations. This will be a self contained mobile unit that has mounts of animals that can be touched and viewed along with educational displays.

$1,000 The Ozark Chapter feels it is important to help support those in our community as well as around the world. We feel the Share the Harvest program is a fabulous way to help in our community.
